Is the US Ignoring Internet Fraud?

Internet fraud is something that we all need to watch out for. Unfortunately, there have been some trends that suggest that we, as a Nation, are not paying as much attention to this as we should. Are we actually ignoring internet fraud in the United State?. This isn’t good, and if this is true then we need to take steps to change it. The following is some information that we should use as a Nation to help realize that internet fraud should be avoided. Getting too comfortable with a situation is a good way to bring it back into our lives when we least expect it. Let’s fight it off quickly!

Are We Ignoring This?

When asked about their top consumer worries and complaints, less then half of the United States polled that internet fraud was among the top. This means that there are other things that people worry about before they begin to worry about internet fraud and how it might affect their lives. Maybe it is because people just assume that this will not happen to them. That is one of the reasons why people do not worry about things. If it does not affect them now, then it does not matter. This should change though, and the following information holds those details.

The Cost of Internet Fraud

Spyware, phising, malware, and other scams cost United States consumers over seven billion dollars last year. Yes, that is a very large number, especially for people who do not seem to care about these effects. Not only is identity theft a risk, but this could result in the loss of productivity, and loss of money because of other scams, like money laundering. This still did not help though, because there are not many arrests made. The lack of arrests also shows people that they probably do not have to care as much either.

What Can You Do?

This might sound like an obvious thing, but you need to make sure that you are always aware of what is happening to you on the internet. Make sure that you enter into a situation with complete knowledge of what is going on and if you have any questions then ask. You must not get greedy and think that everything will work out no matter what. If you want to stop internet fraud they you can do so. If you do not care about it then you have to accept the consequences of your actions. The decision that you make is your choice.
